Problems of palm oil plantations
Palm oil often means the destruction of rainforest and ecosystems.
Thousands of square kilometers of rainforest are cut every year to allow the production of palm oil. In addition to destroying animal habitats and ecosytems, it generates more carbon in the atmosphere than the savings made by using palm oil.
In order to curb this disaster, the European Union has recently decided to stop its importations of palm oil coming from destroyed forests.
